Seams & Eyes of a
Steiff Product Must Not Tear or Break.
For this reason, the strength of the seams is tested. The eyes are subjected to tensile force of
90 Newtons (=9 kg). This guarantees that no one will be able to injure themselves on the animal's eyes.
Two types of eye fasteners.
The Safety Eye: This is attached like a rivet to the sewn
shell before turning. This type of eye is used for all soft-filled animals and always used on designated Baby
Products.
The Pull-In Eye: A long needle is used to stab through the head and sew on the eye
with a thread. To give it extra anchorage, a small dab of adhesive is placed between the eye and fabric. Where
this method of attchment has been used, a small indent can be felt in the nape of the neck. |
